The rub rails are very heavy aluminum extrusions. Surprisingly, there was practically no corrosion underneath the rub rail or in the screw holes. It rained today and when I removed the screws, a lot of water leaked out, so I know that salt water would cause corrosion, so I’m going to seal this up properly.
The rub rails were severely scratched up, so now I can sand them down to a smoother finish.
I wanted to see what the boat looked like without the side scoops. I thought they were purely ornamental, but they did cover up an engine intake. Note sure if this is necessary, though, so I may seal it up
